The Kummer Institute Center for BioInnovation and Medical Engineering at Missouri S&T is a new, interdisciplinary research hub committed to transforming human health through scientific discovery, engineering innovation, and translational research.

Mission and Focus
The Center’s mission is to accelerate breakthroughs in biotechnology and medical engineering by:

Bioplex: A State-of-the-Art Research Facility
A cornerstone of the Center’s future will be the Bioplex, a $132 million, 127,000-square-foot research complex. Planned to open in 2028, the Bioplex will house cutting-edge laboratories and collaborative spaces designed to support world-class research and innovation in biotech and medical engineering.
This facility represents a major investment in the university’s physical and research infrastructure, positioning Missouri S&T as a leader in translational health science.
