Great universities are often known for their state-of-the-art facilities that attract world-class faculty, students and partners. The Kummer Missouri S&T Foundation Board of Directors has awarded funds for capital projects to support advanced manufacturing and prototype development.
Missouri S&T students, faculty, departments and programs will use these new facilities to collaborate across disciplines to fuel the institute’s research breakthroughs. The institute will also advance its goals through external partnerships with industry, public and private research foundations and grant makers, governmental organizations, and consortia.
The Missouri Protoplex will serve as the hub of the manufacturing technology and innovation campus located north of U.S. Interstate 44. Once open, it will offer unique opportunities for students, researchers and manufacturers to learn how to employ advanced manufacturing techniques and technologies. This will help support trained workforce that will keep Missouri manufacturers competitive in the global economy.
Dedicated in April 2024, the 50,000 square-foot facility is designed for Missouri S&T students to come together, collaborate, explore, innovate and create. The Innovation Lab's modular classrooms, collaborative labs and soaring central atrium exude the energy of a hands-on learning environment, inspiring possibility thinkers, discoverers and trailblazers in their quest to solve problems of the future.
Home to the admissions team, the Welcome Center will be the origin point of tours showcasing the S&T story. It will stand directly east of the Innovation Lab, taking its place among more familiar S&T landmarks like the Rolla Building and Havener Center.
In November 2024, the University of Missouri Board of Curators approved the construction of the Bioplex. It will support advanced research and education in the applied life sciences and biomedical engineering, and will be funded by private gifts, including support from the Kummer Missouri S&T Foundation.
Join us as we continue to expand Missouri S&T's ability to promote an entrepreneurial mindset, increase research capabilities, strengthen the academic experience and support economic growth for the region.
